Help Save A Historical Landmark in Washington, DC

The Washington Area Community Investment Fund (WACIF) is accepting donations as part of its established programs to help the historic Tabard Inn and its employee-owners through this difficult time so they can cross the bridge to more secure funding and continue carrying out and expanding their community involvement and charitable activities. Donations made to WACIF are tax-deductible.

A historical landmark designated on February 27, 2020, the Tabard Inn is the oldest continuously operating hotel in Washington, DC, and will celebrate its 100th year of operation in 2022. The Tabard Inn is also one of the oldest employee-owned business in Washington, DC, and recently became majority employee-owned where 74% of its employee owners are Hispanic, 14% are black, 7% are white, and 5% are Asian. The Tabard Inn has no debt and always has spent its revenues down to zero at the end of each year through the distributions it makes to its employee-owners, the funds it provides to community initiatives, and the donations it makes to other organizations as designated by the employee owners. Because of this, the Tabard Inn does not maintain a large operating reserve.
